Wright State Research Institute moves to new headquarters in Beavercreek

The Wright State Research Institute has moved to its new headquarters at 4035 Colonel Glenn Highway in Beavercreek, in the Signal Hill Technecenter complex, effective November 1.

The institute purchased the 34,000-square-foot building in July.

“The tremendous growth the institute has experienced over the last five years made this purchase possible,” said Ryan Fendley, the institute’s director. “As we continue to grow, having our people under one roof will enable us to continue to serve the university and the region with the entrepreneurial energy that has brought value to our research partners.”

The institute has grown from two to 65 employees since its inception, requiring additional space to accommodate its researchers and administrators, who were working across several buildings on campus. The institute plans to add another 50 engineers, scientists and support staffers over the next two years.

The move keeps the Institute close to its research partners and customers in the defense industry, to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and to the university. The building is also home to the administrative offices for three university initiatives led by the institute: the Wright State University and Premier Health Partners Clinical Trials Research Alliance; the Aerospace Professional Development Center at Wright State University; and the Alliance for Human Effectiveness and Advancement (AHEAD).

The Wright State Research Institute, established in 2007, is a university-affiliated research organization that creates collaborative teams to solve problems for the Department of Defense, government agencies and industry. The organization supports employee, faculty and student research in human sciences and health care, information technology and advanced data management, sensors and intelligent systems, and human performance. It leads several initiatives in these areas.

The institute purchased the building from SAIC, which headquartered its Dayton offices there until that company relocated to a new building in Beavercreek in July.
