The role player will be playing a different role Saturday when the Wright State University women’s basketball team makes its first appearance in the NCAA tournament.
KC Elkins manages a smile. She’ll be there, torn ACL and all, when the Raiders play Kentucky at the Wildcats’ Memorial Coliseum.
Is there a tinge of sadness in the senior guard, WSU’s all-time leader in games played? Absolutely. Bitterness? She’ll pass.
“My emotions are with my teammates now,” Elkins said. “They need my support, so I’m going to be the biggest cheerleader on that bench this weekend. It’s a little emotional, definitely not how I wanted to end. But I got to play all four years and got to win a championship, and that’s what I really wanted to do.”
