A proposed research network linking Ohio’s major schools to get more federal research dollars from places like Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has been funded by the state.
Funding to support the establishment of the Ohio Federal Research Network passed the Ohio budget signed by Gov. John Kasich this week. In all, $20 million over two years was awarded for the Wright State Applied Research Corp., affiliated with Wright State Research Institute, and another $5 million to Ohio State University, which is now slated to lead the initiative.
Dennis Andersh, CEO of the Wright State Applied Research Corp., said about half of the $20 million earmark will go to establishing the model for how the organization will run, with the balance supporting other Wright State initiatives like the Aerospace Professional Development Center and other STEM programs.
