The Wright State Friendship Food Pantry hopes to collect 5,000 items during a donation drive this week.
Last year, students, faculty and staff donated 3,000 food items for the pantry’s Rowdy 500 donation drive, inspiring the organization to aim higher.
“This year we called it Rowdy 5000 in hopes of getting 5000 items,” said Mary Case, the coordinator of the pantry.
Last year, the Friendship Food Pantry served over 774 students in the pantry, which is located at 134 Allyn Hall.
This year the pantry is on track to serve even more students.
The campus-wide food drive runs through Oct. 29.
Non-perishable items can be dropped off in donation boxes around campus. Perishable items can be delivered to the pantry (134 Allyn Hall) on Mondays between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or Thursdays between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Most needed items:
- Dry pasta and rice
- Boxed meals
- Diapers size 4 and larger
- Canned meat
- Vegetarian beans
