Why Are the Walls Screaming?” is the title of an art show up now in the Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery. The artist, Wright State student Tony Powers, is a synesthete. (sin-uh s-theet) That means, when Powers hears a sound, he also sees an image – superimposed over the visual reality most people perceive. Powers’ artwork is an attempt to show the world what he sees when he hears. WYSO’s Sarah Buckingham talked with Tony Powers – she started by asking him to define synesthesia.
