Once again, Wright State’s annual ArtsGala offered patrons a night of unparalleled entertainment. Student talents were on display throughout the Creative Arts Center and guests were treated to a dizzying array of food and fun. In its first 12 years, ArtsGala has raised $1.3 million to fund student scholarships in theatre, dance, art, music and motion pictures.
- Wright State University’s College of Liberal Arts welcomed guests to its 13th annual ArtsGala last Saturday night.
- Wright State President David R. Hopkins kicked off the evening in the newly renovated Benjamin and Marian Schuster Hall.
- Charles Taylor, Ph.D., pictured right, celebrated his last ArtsGala as dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Taylor will retire later this year.
- Colleen Ryan served as the 2012 ArtsGala chair and was honored with this gift in appreciation.
- As chair of the event, Colleen Ryan was also the guest conductor for the opening concert.
- Guests were treated to a selection of hit songs during “Rocketman: The Music of Elton John.”
- Throughout the event, patrons could watch art students create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
- Some theatre students spent the evening clowning around.
- Buffets were set up throughout the event, including this one in the Stein Galleries.
- Theatre students performed “The Best of Broadway” in the Herbst, Wright State’s blackbox theatre.
- The theatre department recreated scenes from last fall’s production of the musical “Hairspray” on the Festival Playhouse stage.
- The evening featured a silent auction, a wine tasting, a film festival and a special cigar tent for watching the NCAA Final Four.
- The evening concluded with a dessert reception and dancing on the Festival Playhouse stage.
- In the past 12 years, ArtsGala has raised more than $1.3 million for student scholarships.
