Lot 7 across from the Wright State Physicians building is currently under construction for a parking expansion project.
Campus construction workers are expanding parking Lot 7 across from the Wright State Physicians building to create an additional 200 to 225 spaces.
The unlined gravel lot will be primarily designed to accommodate motorists who attend concerts, graduations and other events at the Nutter Center and for those attending games and practices at the soccer and softball fields.
University Engineer Daniel Papay said the overflow lot is needed by the Nutter Center, which lost event parking space in Lot 20 due to the construction of the Wright State Physicians building and the Raider Rd. extension to Kaufman Ave.
“Our ultimate goal in the future will be to convert all the Nutter Center gravel lots to fully paved and lighted lots with pedestrian walkways to the arena,” Papay said.
Construction began Monday, April 8, and is expected to take two weeks.
