Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine Public Health Grand Rounds event to address health care delivery among vulnerable populations

An expert in health policy and health services research will discuss “Current U.S. Healthcare Delivery: The Challenge to Serve Vulnerable Populations” on Tuesday, Oct. 15, noon to 1 p.m., at Wright State University in the Student Union Discovery Room.

The Public Health Grand Rounds event is free and open to the public. Public Health Grand Rounds, which is presented by the Master of Public Health Program of the Center for Global Health at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, seeks to inform health professionals about public health topics related to prevention and workforce development.

Leiyu Shi, Ph.D., M.B.A., M.P.A., is a professor of health policy and healthy services research at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management. He also is the director of the Johns Hopkins Primary Care Policy Center.

He received his doctoral education from University of California, Berkeley, majoring in health policy and services research. He also has a master’s in business administration, focusing on finance.

His research focuses on primary care, health disparities and vulnerable populations. He has conducted extensive studies about the association between primary care and health outcomes, particularly on the role of primary care in mediating the adverse impact of income inequality on health outcomes. He is the author of nine textbooks and more than 150 scientific journals.
