Sitting in a three-hour organizational leadership class Monday afternoon, Kim Demmings felt her phone vibrate and couldn’t resist the urge to take a peek.

What she saw was a Twitter notification from Wright State athletic director Bob Grant congratulating her on becoming the first player in program history to be named Horizon League Player of the Year.

That’s how I found out,” the junior guard said. “I’m happy. I’m very grateful. But I have to give a shout-out to my teammates because without them I wouldn’t have any of this success.”
