Dieter E. Nevels has been appointed executive director and chief financial officer of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, effective Oct. 20. He replaces John Bale, who will retire after 28 years of service to the medical school.
Nevels has almost 30 years of broad-based experience in all aspects of corporate and medical school finance and business operations, ranging from strategic planning and analysis to valuations of merger/acquisition targets.
Since 2006, he has served as the director of finance and budget with the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. While at Feinberg he successfully streamlined operational procedures, developed bottom-up budgeting procedures, analyzed proposed program expansion/development and identified ways to improve the operational results for the medical school.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Nevels to the medical school,” said Marjorie Bowman, M.D., dean of the Boonshoft School of Medicine. “His extensive experience in corporate finance and business operations combined with his medical school experience will make him a vital asset as we continue to build a strong financial foundation to support the educational, research and community service mission of the Boonshoft School of Medicine.”
Prior to joining Feinberg, Nevels’ career spanned numerous types of businesses, ranging from for-profit free-standing medical services to manufacturing and to animal husbandry.
