Posting a winning record against an array of highly ranked teams, the Wright State University Lake Campus Lakers captured a No. 3 seed in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series.

“Getting to play on a national stage is a tribute to the hard work of the Lake Campus baseball team,” said Wright State President Cheryl B. Schrader. “We are all excited to see the Lakers take their talents to the world series.”
This is the third straight year the Lakers have appeared in the series. Last year, they finished fifth in the tournament after being eliminated in two games the previous year.
The Lakers finished this season with an 18–14 overall record after playing a tough schedule against highly ranked opponents such as Cincinnati-Clermont, Cleary and Robert Morris-Peoria as well as NCAA Division III and NAIA schools.
The Lakers are led by juniors Tristan Becker and Zach Kirby, sophomores Dustin Lewis and Carson Shuman, and freshman Conor Schmitt.
Pitchers Kirby and Schuman are atop the USCAA in earned run average with 2.41 and 2.70, respectively. Schmitt, Lewis and Becker lead the attack from the plate with batting averages of .400, .379 and .367, respectively.
