Wright State University donated more than 250 boxes of face masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to area hospitals to help protect workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

WSU College of Nursing and Health donated the protective equipment to Premier Health last week.

Items included 80 boxes of face masks, 145 boxes of gloves, 20 boxes of gowns and boxes of shoe and hair covers.

Shortages of masks and other PPE in Ohio resulted in Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton ordered that hospitals, dentists, veterinarians and others to postpone non-essential surgeries and procedures.

To meet that need, the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association, in partnership with Montgomery County Emergency Management and Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County, released a video showing how people at home can make and donate face masks.

The donations can be dropped off at St. Vincent de Paul, 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Drive, in Dayton, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
