Tim Littell, associate vice provost for student success at Wright State University, has been named assistant vice president for corporate relations and university initiatives in the Office of University Advancement, effective Jan. 16.
Littell will coordinate and lead efforts around corporate and foundation relations and manage donor relationships for the Division of Student Affairs, the University Libraries and the College of Graduate Programs and Honors Studies.
“I’m excited to be joining the advancement team and looking forward to sharing our Wright State story with the many alums, corporate partners and philanthropic organizations that share our collective passion for shaping and supporting the educational journey of our students,” Littell said.
“Since joining Wright State in January 2012, Tim has often collaborated with the Office of University Advancement in our work to engage alumni and donors,” said Bill Shepard, vice president for advancement. “Tim’s institutional knowledge and ability to tell the Wright State story will make him a great addition to the team.”
Littell has more than 35 years of higher education experience in student success, academic support, academic advising, career services and teaching in developmental education and psychology.
He has helped raise over $6 million in grants for student success initiatives and scholarships and was the primary liaison and stakeholder for the design and construction of the Student Success Center, which opened in 2015.
Littell has served as associate vice provost for student success since 2018.
The Division of Student Success supports students, faculty, and staff through programs and services in Career and Academic Advising, Academic Support, and Foundation Studies, including remediation coursework in developmental mathematics and writing, First-year Seminars and First-Year Programs.
Previously, he was the executive director of student success, associate dean and assistant dean for programming in the former University College.
He received a President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership in 2017.
Before joining Wright State in 2012, Littell held several leadership positions at Rhodes State College, including dean of student development, chair of student development education and director of Learning Assistance Programs. He also served as director of placement in the Office of Student Affairs at Ohio Northern University.
Littell received a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio Northern University.
The university plans to conduct a national search for the associate vice provost for student success position.
During the search, Amanda Spencer, director of academic advising, will serve as the point of contact for the Division of Student Success, and Sarah McGinley, senior lecturer of English, will assist with First Year Seminars. Spencer and McGinley will also chair Wright State’s Retention Committee.
