Wright State’s STEMM Experience on Oct. 23 to give high school students a taste of in-demand majors and careers

High school students and their families can explore majors and careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine at Wright State’s STEMM Experience on Oct. 23.

It’s a golden opportunity to explore the anatomy of the brain, delivery drones, lasers and 3D printing. Eight of the 10 fastest growing industries in Ohio are looking for STEMM professionals.

Wright State University will offer a multitude of experiences to high school students and their families who want to explore college majors and careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.

It is all part of the STEMM Experience at Wright State University on Saturday, Oct. 23. The event will begin at 9 a.m. in the Student Union and will include demonstrations and activities around campus until 12:30 p.m.

Interested students should register by Oct. 20 at wright.edu/STEMMexperience.

Everyone is required to wear a mask when inside all buildings on Wright State’s campuses.

Students attending the STEMM Experience will be able to participate in laboratory activities, explore more than 20 STEMM majors and interact with faculty members and current Wright State students. They will also be able to tour campus facilities, including the Neuroscience Engineering Collaboration Building, as well as visit research laboratories and engineering maker spaces.

Students can customize their adventure based on the area of interest they choose when they register, selecting up to three preferred workshops. Participants can talk with faculty members about their college or career plans. In addition, Wright State students will be on hand to discuss student life and student organizations.

The STEMM Experience is hosted by the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Science and Mathematics and sponsored by Ball Aerospace.
