Avery Deal is a man of integrity who is courteous and always has a smile.
He has a quiet presence as a custodial services worker that speaks volumes to all in his paths.
Last fall, Deal volunteered to work at Raidersgiving, a Thanksgiving meal and event for students not returning home for the holidays.
“He showed up and spent the entire day with us. … I found it amazing that he would give up his holiday,” said Craig This, interim director of the Office of Institutional Research.
Deal’s actions were unsurprising to those he works with.
His co-workers in Rike Hall told This that what he saw at Raidersgiving “is the ‘real Deal.’ One person I spoke to said that Avery ‘always goes the extra mile’ to make sure that Rike Hall is as clean and as neat looking as possible,” This said.
Another co-worker said that Deal “consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty every time.”
Deal is responsible, dedicated, thorough and courteous. He goes out of his way to clean throughout Rike Hall. While he might work behind the scenes, he helps provide a safe and clean place university for students, faculty and staff.
Deal seemed genuinely happy to be at Raidersgiving, said Sommer Todd, strategic financial analyst at Wright State. “The university benefits from having dedicated, caring people like Avery, who is happy to help in any way possible and hopes for the success and happiness of the university and our students,” Todd said.
“I am proud that he is a member of our community,” This said.
