The medical students of Phi Rho Sigma Medical Society at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine will conduct a canned food drive April 29 through May 7, benefiting The Foodbank Dayton.
On Friday, April 29, members of Phi Rho Sigma, a national social and community service organization represented by the Alpha Upsilon Chapter at the Boonshoft School of Medicine, will place flyers in neighborhoods near Wright State to inform residents of the event.
Residents will have a week to gather donations of food and other household items and leave them on their front porches for medical students to pick up on Saturday, May 7, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Two Men and a Truck will deliver the donations to The Foodbank Dayton. Other sponsors for the event include Chipotle, Bill’s Donuts, Meijer and World Digital Imaging.
The Foodbank Dayton, which distributes food to the hungry throughout Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties, has a continuous need of canned soups, canned meats, canned tuna, canned fruit, canned vegetables, nuts and seeds, rice and beans, peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, cereal, baking mixes, pastas and canned sauces, evaporated or powdered milk, puddings, cat and dog food, household products, toilet paper, tissues and towels and soap.
