“Diversity and Social Activism in the 21st Century” will be the theme of an Ohio Diversity Officers Collaboration conference hosted by Wright State University.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 29, at the Holiday Inn, 2800 Presidential Dr., in Fairborn.
Keynote speaker will be Terrell Strayhorn, director of the Center for Higher Education Enterprise at The Ohio State University. Strayhorn, a leading scholar on diversity, will offer insight and guidance to education and community leaders supporting diversity efforts.
In addition, two discussions — one led by diversity officers and the other featuring community voices — will address the theme. The conference will also provide networking opportunities and highlight best practices in diversity work.
“This conference occurs at a critical time when conversations and action are coming together in America,” said Shanda Gore, Ohio Diversity Officers Collaboration president. “We need to understand what social activism looks like from different perspectives in the 21st century and what parts we all can play to advance unity in our local communities.”
As part of the conference, there will be a reception at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in the Apollo Room at Wright State’s Student Union.
