Eric Corbitt, the director of the Student Union, activities and recreation, received the 2019 President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership. Even with the numerous responsibilities he has, he finds a way to get things done with class and kindness.
Corbitt supervises the Student Union, Event Services and Youth Programs, Campus Recreation and Student Involvement and Leadership. He is very well-known throughout the Wright State community and the Fairborn and Dayton community.
Corbitt is a kind, caring person who always puts people first. He is easy to reach when someone has questions and truly cares about how people are doing, both on and off the clock. His leadership shines brightest when there is a task at hand. He is great at delegating responsibilities that make people comfortable and is readily available when coworkers have questions or concerns.
“Some of the things that I respect most about Eric is that he always puts students first,” one coworker said. “Whether that is supporting the big ideas of the student government president, or working to solve an issue with a student organization, Eric is able to lead with kindness and a knowledge of just who to call and what to do next. Eric is also humble, he is quick to admit when he might not know the answer, and then follows through to find the information that is necessary.”
