Daniela Burnworth honored with prestigious national psychology training award

Daniela Burnworth, associate director of Counseling and Wellness Services, received the Helen Roehlke Award from the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies.

Daniela Burnworth, Ph.D., associate director of Wright State University’s Counseling and Wellness Services, received a prestigious national award from the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA).

Burnworth received the Helen Roehlke Award — ACCTA’s highest honor — at the association’s annual meeting.

“Dr. Burnworth is an outstanding director of clinical training and has dedicated herself to professional service,” said Robert Rando, Ph.D., director of Counseling and Wellness Services. “Her receipt of ACCTA’s highest honor is a fitting recognition of her status as a national leader in psychology training.”

ACCTA promotes excellence in doctoral psychology internship training within university and college counseling centers. It represents one of the largest single training settings for American Psychological Association-accredited internships in the nation, with 184 members who administrate sites offering more than 500 doctoral internship slots in psychology.

The Helen Roehlke Award was established in 2000 to honor members who exemplify the spirit of ACCTA by their unwavering enthusiasm, commitment, support and overall service to the organization.

“My involvement in overseeing the training of mental health professionals is a career highlight for me and an incredibly special part of my job,” said Burnworth. “Being part of ACCTA has been deeply meaningful, professionally and personally.”

Burnworth began working at Wright State in 2005 and became associate director of Counseling and Wellness Services in 2007. She was elected to the ACCTA Board of Directors in 2016 and became a member of the Executive Committee Board of Directors in 2019.
