Wright State fine and performing arts students perform free concert in downtown Dayton

Wright State University School of Fine and Performing Arts students joined together for the second Wright State ArtsLive!: A Celebration of Fine and Performing Arts at the Levitt Pavilion in downtown Dayton on Sept. 21.

The free concert was kicked off by the Wright State Pep Band and included a live sampling of drawings by fine art students; performances by the Wright State Dance Program, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble; short film selections by motion pictures students; and several musical numbers by the Wright State Theatre Program.

“This is our gift back to the community,” said Dan Zehringer, D.M.A., chair of the School of Fine and Performing Arts. “Not only to showcase the students but also to give back to the community and let them know that we love Dayton and we love being a part of Dayton.”

The concert presented a unique opportunity for students in Wright State’s fine arts, dance, motion pictures, music and theatre to perform on the same stage. It also served as a kickoff for the 25th ArtsGala, scheduled for April 6, 2024, in the Creative Arts Center.

“I think the people that are stopping by and seeing the show tonight, I think they should look forward to being inspired by the new generation of talent that is coming through Wright State University,” said Kendra Lodewyk, a senior acting major who performed in “Cabaret” at ArtsLive.
