Wright State hosts workshop on demystifying security clearance process

Forty people attended the “Demystify Security Clearance Process for Government and Defense Positions” workshop in the Wright State Student Union.

Wright State University students, faculty and staff learned how to navigate the security clearance process during a workshop, “Demystify Security Clearance Process for Government and Defense Positions.”

Hosted by the Raj Soin College of Business and the Defense and Government Advisory Council, the workshop was held Thursday, Oct. 20. Forty people attended the event.

Heather Sivrais, director of security at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Engineering Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, walked attendees through the most critical elements of the security clearance process.

Topics covered in the workshop included introductions to eQIP, SF86 and fingerprints, investigation and adjudication requirements, reporting requirements, continuous vetting and security clearance disqualifications and preparations for a security clearance.

Sivrais is a subject matter expert in a variety of security disciplines, specifically the security clearance process. She served as a security forces member from 2002 to 2008 and as a security specialist contractor from 2009 to 2020 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

At the end of the workshop, Larry Ford, logistics training development coordinator at the Workforce Development Branch, gave a presentation on internship and career opportunities at the Air Force base. Participants were encouraged to bring their resumes.
