Concert in downtown Dayton to showcase Wright State fine and performing arts students, faculty

Wright State ArtsLive!: A Celebration of Fine and Performing Arts will take place on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion in downtown Dayton.

A special concert at Dayton’s Levitt Pavilion will showcase the talents of Wright State University’s music, dance, theatre, motion pictures and visual arts students and faculty.

Wright State ArtsLive!: A Celebration of Fine and Performing Arts will take place on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 7 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion, 134 S. Main St. in downtown Dayton. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

The free concert features a sampling of Wright State’s fine and performing arts programs. The program includes:

• Visual arts creations by Wright State’s art program students and faculty
• Performances by dance students
• Short film selections by motion picture students
• Performances by the Wright State Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble
• Selections from “Cabaret,” performed by musical theatre students

Students, faculty and staff can travel to the concert by a bus that will depart the Student Union at 6:30 p.m.

The Levitt Pavilion is an outdoor venue without seating, so attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Beverages will be available at the venue and outside food and beverages are permitted (however, glass bottles or containers are not permitted).

The Office of Alumni Affairs will provide information about how students can stay connected to Wright State after they graduate.

The concert serves as a kickoff for Wright State’s Family Weekend, which runs Sept. 22–24, and for the 25th ArtsGala, the annual fine and performing arts event and fundraiser, scheduled for April 6, 2024, in the Creative Arts Center.

The College of Liberal Arts, which organized the first Wright State ArtsLive! concert at the Levitt Pavilion in 2021, hopes to make the performance a biennial event.
