Wright State University students opened the fall semester with First Weekend on the Dayton Campus from Aug. 23 to Aug. 25. The weekend was packed with many opportunities for new and returning students to learn about Wright State, get involved and have fun.
“It’s the first step to building a community for the freshmen,” said Marwah Almuzoughi, a senior majoring in international studies and Student Government Association president.
First Weekend events included Party at Bart-y, the Student Organization Expo, Cook Out with the President, Student Union After Dark with an Olympics theme and numerous competitions for students to compete in, and mud volleyball. The weekend also featured departmental and student organization events that gave students opportunities to get to know their classmates, faculty and staff.
“Everybody here is different,” said Almuzoughi. “They come from different backgrounds, different cultures and different upbringings and there’s room for everyone.”
