Nearly 1,300 families come to Wright State for mass food distribution by The Foodbank

The Foodbank organized a mass food distribution at the Wright State University Nutter Center on Aug. 29, attracting more than a 1,000 households and distributing thousands of pounds of food.

Over 100 volunteers from CareSource, SICSA, Imagination Library and Wright State distributed fresh produce, proteins, grains and pet food.

“Pet food is also being impacted by the high cost of items,” said Lee Truesdale, chief development officer at The Foodbank.

The Foodbank distribution began just before 10 a.m. and lasted past 1 p.m. with 1,297 families being served during the over three-hour event.

“We are giving back to the community today, which is what Wright State is all about,” said Jim Click, custodial services manager at Wright State, who volunteered at distribution.

The Wright State men’s and women’s basketball teams also volunteered by loading vehicles with food.

“It’s incredible to have this many volunteers come out and help,” said Drey Carter, a sophomore guard on the men’s basketball team.
