As diagnoses and awareness of the syndrome spread in the mid-2000s, Wright State began offering a simple Asperger’s support group. Outreach to high schools attracted more and more Asperger’s students — of the 100 attending Wright State today, 41 arrived just this past fall.
That triggered the creation of a support program dedicated entirely to Aspies.
“We take an educational approach,” Rando said. “We want to do all that we can to support them in the social piece so the academics can go all the more smoothly.”
