Wright State hosts high school counselors, college recruiters

More than 500 Ohio high school and college representatives were on campus Sept. 10 for the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling Articulation.

Nearly 500 Ohio high school and university representatives were on campus to kick off the 2014–15 college recruiting season.

The Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling Articulation brought together high school guidance counselors and college recruiters to get updates from institutions around the state and prepare for the start of the academic year.

The Sept. 10 event, held in the Wright State Nutter Center, attracted high school guidance counselors and representatives of all public, private and two-year colleges in Ohio, along with the Ohio Board of Regents, the ACT, College Board and the NCAA.

The program included presentations from Ohio universities, a discussion of hot topics for high school counselors and a college fair. Tours of the Wright State campus were also offered.

The articulation is held every September in several regions in Ohio.

Cathy Davis, the assistant vice president for undergraduate admissions, said the event provides updated information to school counselors as they help to guide their students through the college search.

Jacqueline McMillan, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management at Wright State, got the event started with brief remarks. She stressed the importance of the work the Wright State counselors do to recruit students and spread the Wright State story.

“This is a team of coaches that really works with students and families so that the students’ dreams of college are realized,” she said.

About 25 staff members from the Office of Admissions worked during the event.
