The Hunger Cup Campaign, a competition between Wright State University and the University of Dayton, to collect donated food and funds to help Wright State students and needy Dayton residents runs through Sept. 30.
Food donations will benefit the Wright State Food Pantry and Boggs Ministry. Money raised will benefit The Food Bank in Dayton and Boggs Ministry.
Food items can be dropped off at barrels around campus and at the Wright State Food Pantry, 134 Allyn Hall.
Financial donations can be made at crowdrise.com/hungercup2015.
Financial donations will be accepted through Oct. 10. Donating $1 helps a family of four.
Dayton ranked ninth for food hardship in 2015, and Ohio was ranked the 19th hungriest state, an indicator of food insecurity in the country, according to data from the Food Research and Action Center. Approximately 130,000 individuals in Dayton do not know where their next meal will come from.
