More than 300 community members, elected officials and cycling enthusiast attended the Miami Valley Cycling Summit. The biennial event was held in the Wright State Student Union on May 5.
The summit aims to use the power of cycling to drive economic development in communities throughout the region.
Wright State is located near 340 miles of the largest continuous paved trail network in the country. Eric Corbitt, Student Union director says that more can be done to connect students to the trail.
“We have an ad hoc committee that has been working with faculty, staff and students to evaluate Wright State’s campus to come up with a plan to make us more bicycle friendly,” said Corbitt.
Corbitt says that the committee’s goals are to educate and advocate the campus community about cycling on campus. Corbitt is also focused on better storage for bicycles around campus as well as providing students with access to bicycles if they need one.
The 2019 Miami Valley Summit will be held in Miamisburg.
