Stop by the Robert & Elaine Stein Galleries from Wednesday, Nov. 30, through Friday, Dec. 2, to drop off canned, non-perishable food items that will become part of an interactive installation in the Galleries.
Visitors are encouraged to artfully stack the cans along the gallery walls or create inspired arrangements of their own during Show of HeART: The Foodbank Installation.
After Dec. 2, all donations will be delivered to The Foodbank.
“The canned food installation will change as more cans are added during the three-day event,” says Tess Cortés, gallery coordinator.
“This is our second year holding the event,” she said. “Last year, we collected over 600 pounds of food items. It would be great if we doubled that amount this year.”
Pedestals will be available for those who want to create a freestanding sculpture with the cans and boxes they bring.
The Foodbank provides food to 77 member agencies that operate nearly 100 feeding programs.
Gallery hours during the event are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m on Thursday.
All visitor parking areas on campus are free with a parking pass, which can be obtained at the visitor’s booth in Lot 2. A dedicated parking space for gallery visitors is available in Lot 15. The loading dock will also be available for those who want to drop off their donations directly into the Galleries.
