Kendall Goodrich, Ph.D., professor of marketing and chair of the School of Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Management, is featured as an expert source in a new national analysis by the personal finance site WalletHub examining store credit cards and how consumers can decide whether they are worthwhile.
Goodrich offered insights into consumer decision-making and the factors that influence how shoppers respond to store credit promotions.
Consumers who apply for a store credit card should be aware that they might ultimately pay for the benefits and convenience of a store card, Goodrich said.
“If credit card payments are not fully made at the end of each month, a relatively high interest rate would be applied to the remaining balance,” he said. “Even worse, if a customer misses a payment, they would likely be subject to even higher interest rates or fees.”
