Musical Theatre/Acting Preparatory Program to hold auditions for new play

Actors ages 12 to 18 may audition for the Midwest premiere of Gossip, a new play by New York City playwright Brian Hampton that will be performed at Wright State University in December.

The Wright State Musical Theatre/Acting Preparatory Program will hold auditions Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., in the Creative Arts Center. Auditions will be held by appointment only.

The cast includes two males, three females and a small ensemble of actors.

Actors should prepare one memorized, contemporary one- to two-minute monologue. The monologue should be age appropriate. Actors may be asked to come to the callback from 1:30–3 p.m. and read from the script.

Marya Spring Cordes, assistant professor of acting, will direct the play, which will be performed at Wright State Dec. 6 and 7.

Gossip is about a group of high school friends who befriend a mysterious and irresistible new student. It was performed in June in New York during The Puzzle: Marble’s Festival of New Work.

The Musical Theatre/Acting Preparatory Program provides professional training for acting, dance or voice to students ages 12 to 18. Training is offered through private lessons and group classes through the Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures.
