Lang Hong, professor of electrical engineering, is this year’s recipient of the International Education Award for expanding global awareness and international understanding on the Wright State campus and in the surrounding communities. The award is given by the University Center for International Education.

Huntting W. Brown, director of sustainability and senior lecturer in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, nominated Hong for the award. In his nomination letter, Brown credits Hong for being “instrumental in assisting Wright State University in creating one of [our] enduring and fruitful international partnerships in China.”

Wright State’s relationship with Dalian Jiatong University–Information Engineering Institute (DJU-IEI) began in 2002 with the College of Engineering and Computer Science and has since expanded to include the College of Liberal Arts and the Raj Soin College of Business. Over 50 students from DJU-IEI are currently studying at Wright State, and seven Wright State students are now studying Chinese and teaching English on the DJU-IEI campus.

Hong is honored and pleased to be the recipient of 2010 International Education Award. “On this great campus,” he said, “there are many people working hard promoting international education, and they all deserve recognition. I happen to be the lucky one to receive the award today.”
