Vaughn Duggins scored a career-high 31 points and Wright State exploded for 49 points in the second half as the Raiders rolled to a 82-56 victory over Hofstra Saturday as part of the Sears BracketBusters at Wright State’s Nutter Center.

Wright State went into halftime with a 33-26 lead. But the Raiders outscored Hofstra 23-9 in the first seven minutes of the second half, claiming a 56-35 lead on Vance Hall’s 3-pointer.  Hofstra would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way.

WSU hit 14 of 22 shots the final 20 minutes, including six of nine from three, to finish at 46 percent for the game.  The Raiders also held a 35-32 rebounding edge and hit 23 of 26 foul shots.  Hofstra, meanwhile, shot just 33 percent for the contest, one of 17 from three, and was 27 of 38 at the stripe.

Duggins hit 10 of 18 shots and was a perfect 10 for 10 at the line in scoring his 31 points, becoming the first Raiders to score 30 or more in a game since DaShaun Wood had 32 versus Loyola on January 10, 2007.  N’Gai Evans added 12 points and seven assists as all but one Raider that saw action scored.

Charles Jenkins led the Pride (18-10) with 18 points while Mike Moore had 14.

Wright State (18-12) closes out the regular season on Friday, February 25, as the Raiders host Detroit in a 7:00 contest that will be televised live on ESPNU.  WSU’s four seniors–Duggins, Evans, Cooper Land and Troy Tabler–will be recognized in a ceremony after the game.
