The Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries at Wright State University will present a survey of work by faculty emeritus and accomplished printmaker David Leach from March 30 to May 1. One of the largest groupings of the local artist’s work, the exhibition will feature Leach’s work from the past 40 years and will include works on paper, paintings and books.

Leach is a professor emeritus at Wright State, where he taught printmaking, drawing and color theory from 1973 to 2003.  He also chaired the Department of Art and Art History from 1985 to 1989.

His work is featured in many public and private collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale University, the Dayton Art Institute and the Cincinnati Museum of Art.  Today, he works in his home studio creating drawings and paintings, and he continues to make prints at the Dayton Printmakers Cooperation and Wright State.

On Sunday, April 10, the artist will present a free public lecture at 2:30 p.m. in Wright State’s Creative Arts Center, with a reception to follow in the Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries. The reception will feature a poetry reading at 4 p.m. by Wright State English professors in celebration of National Poetry Month.

The exhibition, curated by Wright State art professor Penny Park, is made possible through support by the Ohio Arts Council, the Friends and Members of the Galleries and the Wright State University College of Liberal Arts.

Gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday noon to 4:00 p.m.  All visitor parking areas on campus are free, and parking at the Creative Arts Center is unrestricted after 4:00 p.m. on Fridays and weekends.
