You’ve heard of Hell’s Kitchen, Top Chef and Chopped.
You’ve seen the competitions play out on television reality shows.
Tensions flare, competitive juices boil, victories become savory, sweet desserts.
Wright State University is poised to dip its ladle into the same flavorful soup to host its first cooking competition next week; the Battle of the Chefs Competition Tuesday, April 12, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Union Market.
“It’s our first battle and we’re looking forward to it. We’ll be letting the students show off their culinary expertise and we’ll let them duke it out,” said Andy Deckert, marketing manager for Wright State Dining Services.
The challenge features teams of students competing for campus culinary supremacy.
“Lots of students know how to make mac ’n cheese but these students are going to have to whip up a fancy chicken dish on the fly,” said Deckert.
Each team will have to create a chicken dinner. All teams will have the same ingredients to work with, except for one wildcard ingredient unique to each team.
Each student from the top team wins $100 gift cards to both the Campus bookstore and dining services.
