Matt Porter, an environmental sciences major, was nominated by his supervisor of three years Marcia Wendeln, director of the Department of Biolgical Sciences Introductory Labs.
Wendeln says in her 18 years she’s had students working for her, she has never been more impressed by a student employee than she has been with Porter.
Wendeln says Porter is an invaluable employee because he is responsible, resourceful, considerate and respected by his co-workers and the entire department. She adds Porter has great character and concern for others.
Porter has served as a mentor and trained other student workers in the lab and assisted in Wright State projects and community activities like Exploring STEMM, which he organized and supervised.
Wendeln says Porter was also instrumental in building a new Bird Blind building in the Wright State woods.
