Dan Thomas, the outgoing president of Wright State University’s student government, is moving on to a bigger political stage.
Thomas has been elected to chair the Ohio Student Government Association. The OSGA is an organization dedicated to advocacy for students and higher education in general.
Thomas’ platform for his election was one of increased efficiency, focus and lobbying for education. He disseminated his platform to members of the OSGA before its spring conference, and when he arrived, he ran unopposed for the position.
“It was pretty cool that people had that much confidence in my plan,” says Thomas.
Since stepping up into his new position as chair, Thomas has enacted his ideas quickly, creating an OSGA email system for better communication and enlisting several colleges and universities into increased participation.
“Central State University has never been involved in the OSGA,” says Thomas, “and I was actually able to get their student government to sign on last week.”
Though Thomas is moving on to chair the OSGA, he won’t be ignoring his Wright State roots. OSGA regulations require him to serve in the Wright State Student Government cabinet, under the incoming president Paul Reed.
