Pre-college students become toymakers, go on safari, learn to sew

: A blue bug was the creation de jour for this young man in the “Toymakers” pre-college camp.

: Kids found it’s not sew easy to thread a needle in the “So into Sewing” class.

: Kids love toys and in the “Toymakers” camp they found out they love to make them too.

: Kids learned to sew beanbag animals and small garments in the “So into Learning” camp.

: Students learned to make something out of nothing using common household ingrediants in the “Kid Concoctions” camp.

The Office of Pre-College Programs offers a wide variety of week-long learning opportunities that began on June 13, and it’s time to register for summer camps at Wright State University for kindergarten through 12th grade students.

These photographs are from the first session of pre-college camps.

The Discovery/Odyssey programs are designed for K–9 grade students in such fields as: science, mathematics, foreign languages, the arts, the humanities and computer technology. Classes are planned from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended care available. Select courses for the gifted and talented will also be included.

Residential camps and institutes are set for sixth to 12th graders. The participants live on campus for the week-long programs and are supervised by trained residential staff 24 hours a day. Courses are available in engineering, archaeology, creative writing, law and politics, leadership, mathematics, science, theatre and more.
