Wright State’s latest “Broadway Baby”

Verina graduated from Wright State in 2005 with a B.F.A. in acting.

A Wright State theatre grad is Broadway bound.

Nick Verina will reprise his role as “Young Ben” in Stephen Sondheim’s celebrated musical Follies when the critically acclaimed Kennedy Center production transfers to the Great White Way.

The show, currently in previews, stars Broadway legends Bernadette Peters and Elaine Paige. Regular performances are set to begin Sept. 12 at the Marquis Theatre.

A two-disc cast recording, featuring Verina, will be released later this year.

“It’s an amazing experience to realize a dream,” said Verina. “I’m so grateful and so lucky to not only be performing on Broadway, but to be a part of this iconic piece of theatre.”

Verina graduated from Wright State in 2005 with a B.F.A. in acting. Since then, he has performed in theaters across the country, including the New York production of Forbidden Broadway: SVU and the national tour of Grease.

In May, Verina sang the national anthem at a major league baseball game in Washington, D.C.

“My training at Wright State was invaluable,” said Verina. “The program itself taught me lessons in dedication and practice.”

“I’m very proud of my education and carry with me fond memories of my time at Wright State as I continue my career,” he said.
