FAIRBORN — Wright State University has a new dean for its Boonshoft School of Medicine, selecting Dr. Marjorie Bowman from the University of Pennsylvania.
Bowman, who begins Oct. 1, is a professor and founding chair of Penn’s Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Wright State announced Tuesday. She is currently director of the Ivy League university’s Center of Public Health Initiatives.
Bowman will succeed Dr. Howard Part, who is stepping down after 14 years as dean to teach full-time in the medical school, according to Wright State.
Wright State President David Hopkins said Bowman was selected from a “strong pool of highly qualified candidates.”
“She will bring outstanding experience to the Boonshoft School of Medicine in many areas, one of which is her significant interest and work in the area of health care community partnerships,” he said in a news release.
