Jeanie Bochenek is a clinical instructor with the College of Nursing and Health. She exemplifies excellence in teaching in both the clinical and classroom settings. Known for innovative teaching, especially at the graduate level, Bochenek consistently receives rave reviews from her students. A nationally certified school nurse, Bochenek still works as a school nurse for the Dayton Regional STEM School.
Bochenek joined the Wright State University–Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health in 2007. She has taught pediatrics and community health in both the traditional B.S.N. program and in the accelerated B.S.N. program, as well as in the School Nurse Certificate and M.S. programs. Bochenek is the director of the School Nurse concentration.
Student evaluations show a consistent delivery of quality education by Bochenek both in and out of the classroom. One undergraduate student wrote in an evaluation, “Jeanie was very knowledgeable and handled all questions well. She respected everyone. She challenged us and made pediatric clinical fun.”
Multiple graduate students expressed their appreciation for Bochenek’s invaluable assistance in helping them transition from a traditional classroom to the online learning environment. Bochenek employs a variety of teaching tools including iTunes U, Elluminate, and Pilot discussion boards. One graduate student wrote, “Jeanie Bochenek is a wonderful instructor and mentor. She provided great resources, instruction, examples, and leadership in how I can improve my school nurse practice. Bravo, Jeanie!
Bochenek is a recognized leader inn the college. Colleagues strongly supported her consideration for this award because, as one wrote, “Jeanie is an inquisitive, hardworking (industrious) clinical instructor with a warm heart.”
Bochenek is currently active in leadership positions at the local, state, and national level in the Association of School Nurses.
