A Wright State University professor says he has discovered a way to slow tumor growth in patients suffering from breast cancer.
Julian Gomez-Cambronero, a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Wright State’s Boonshoft School of Medicine, said his team found a protein responsible for the development of breast cancer tumors, as well as the spread of those tumors.
By introducing chemical inhibitors to the protein, called Phospholipase D or PLD, the team says it has shrunk tumor growth and rate of spread by 70 percent.
