Boonshoft School of Medicine Public Health Grand Rounds event to examine the state of the region’s trauma centers

A panel of experts will discuss “The State of the Region’s Trauma Centers” on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 3 to 4 p.m., at Wright State University in the Student Union Discovery Room.

Free and open to the public, the event is part of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine’s Public Health Grand Rounds, which seek to inform health professionals about public health topics related to prevention and workforce development.

The panel will examine the current state of trauma programs, how these programs have changed since 9/11 and consider the possible impact of changes in health care on trauma programs.

Mark E. Gebhart, M.D., FAAEM, associate professor, WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine, will be the moderator for the panel discussion.

The panelists include A. Peter Ekeh, M.D., professor of surgery, WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine, and medical director of trauma at Miami Valley Hospital; Doug Paul, D.O., trauma surgeon at Kettering Medical Center; Daniel Butler, M.D., trauma program medical director at Atrium Medical Center; Jennifer Brown, B.S.N., R.N., trauma program manager at Atrium Medical Center; Lisa Weaver, R.N., trauma program manager at Miami Valley Hospital; and William Mangas, EMT-P, trauma outreach coordinator at Kettering Medical Center.
