Justyna Hampel arrived at Wright State from Poland four years ago struggling with being away from home and trying to keep up in classes taught in her second language, English.
Hampel graduates Sunday — along with another Polish swimmer, Pawel Grzebala — with a degree in biology and a successful swimming career behind her. She’s most proud of what she accomplished last season, her senior year.
“I had back surgery my junior year,” Hampel said. “I never thought I could recover from that. Senior year was great. It was everything I ever hoped for.”
