Construction of the $3.1 million pedestrian bridge that will span Interstate 675 in the vicinity of Wright State University is underway with bridge piers and abutments now in place after the first month of work.
The 467-foot long, 12-foot wide steel-beamed bridge will connect Center Park Boulevard in Fairborn with the intersection of Pentagon and Commons boulevards in Beavercreek. It begins on the Fairborn side at the Wright Executive Center office plaza and will travel to a bike and pedestrian path that will run along the western edge of Sam’s Club in Beavercreek.
The bridge, which will be lighted, is on target for completion by the end of May, Ohio Department of Transportation spokeswoman Sharon Smigielski said.
