Colleges use data to help identify at-risk students

Students drop out of college for a lot of reasons, from broken-­down vehicles and money struggles to a bad case of homesickness. To improve retention rates, some local schools are hoping to harness the power of big data.

That’s what Sinclair Community College and Wright State University hope to achieve with dashboards that will alert professors when students start showing signs of being “at-­risk.”
