UFC star Ronda Rousey’s candid confession this week that she thought about killing herself after losing her title to Holly Holm in November 2015 has put a focus on mental health, especially among athletes.
“Anytime so much of your ego-state is wrapped up in top performance, when that goes poorly, that can have major ramifications on your emotional status,” said Jeffery Allen, interim associate dean and professor at the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University.
