Habitat habit

It wasn’t a single, double or triple. It was a home run.

The Wright State University softball team took part in a Habitat for Humanity house build on Sept. 11 at Stillwater United Methodist Church.

“It shows a lot about the character of the program and the folks running the program that they would want to do things beyond playing softball,” said Jon Ferguson, lead pastor of Stillwater Church and organizer of the event.

Over 300 people from around the community took part. The Wright State student athletes built walls for two homes. The walls will be transported to the sites where the Habitat for Humanity homes will be constructed.

“If you ask anyone on the team, this is our favorite service project by far to do. We get so excited, and it’s great to actually build a house,” said Rachael Oakley, an outfielder on the softball team.

This was the fourth consecutive year that the team participated in the annual build.
