Wright State to hold forum on bringing together health and human services programs

Options to integrate programs on health and human services will be the focus of Wright State University’s next Let’s Talk community forum.

The forum will be held on Monday, Nov. 27, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Apollo Room of the Student Union.

The event is open to the campus community and the public. It will be streamed live for those who cannot attend in person at wright.edu/streaming.

The forum will feature a panel that includes Joseph Keferl, dean of the College of Education and Human Services; Travis Doom, professor of computer science and president of the Faculty Senate; Bryan Bucklew, a Wright State graduate and president and CEO of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association; and Tracey Stute, director of treatment, prevention and support, from the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Clark, Greene, and Madison Counties.

Following short presentations from the panel members, campus constituents can ask questions and initiate dialogue in a town hall setting. Wright State President Cheryl B. Schrader will moderate the discussion.

The university is reviewing its academic organization during the 2017-18 academic year. A primary goal of the review is to obtain recommendations for an academic alignment that provides a broad scope of health-related education and career opportunities for students as well as fostering multidisciplinary research and programs.

The Steering Committee for Academic Organization Review — chaired by Doom and Associate Provost Steve Berberich — will produce recommendations for realigning academic programs to better serve students, faculty and the community. Part of Schrader’s focus on campus conversation, Let’s Talk allows the Wright State community to discuss one issue or theme at the university. The goal of the series is to create a safe space for open, informed discussion while providing the community with accurate information and perspective.
