Show off your Wright State pride during Homecoming Week

Wright Day to Give, Chili Cook-Off, a trivia contest, Casino Night and the inaugural Festival of Flight highlight Wright State University’s packed Homecoming Week Sept. 30 to Oct. 5.

The celebration begins with the Homecoming Kickoff Party on Sept. 30 and concludes with the inaugural Festival of Flight on Oct. 5.

Homecoming also provides an opportunity to support student scholarships and programs through the third annual Wright Day to Give on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the university’s Founder’s Day. Support the causes closest to your heart — academic area, departments, student groups, athletics, campus organizations. Every gift, no matter the size, will make a difference.

“The students have planned some wonderful events, from the Kickoff to the joining of the Chili Cook-Off and the Bonfire to participating in the Golf Cart Parade,” said Debbie Lamp, associate director of student involvement and leadership. “It’s a week of pride on campus.”

The annual Chili Cook-Off and Bonfire, hosted by the Fraternity and Sorority Council and the University Activities Board, takes place Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. in Parking Lot 4A.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to get a team together for Trivia Night, hosted by the College of Education and Human Services, on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room.

Friday, Oct. 4

1–5:30 p.m.: Golf cart decorating, Nutter Center Arena
Student organizations can decorate their golf carts before the Golf Cart Parade during Festival of Flight.

5:30–7 p.m.: Organizational Leadership Launch
Now in its fourth year, the event allows Organizational Leadership alumni, faculty and students to connect and network.

6–8 p.m.: Alumni Achievement Awards (by invitation only)
A night to honor and celebrate a select group of outstanding alumni.

7–10 p.m.: Trivia Night, Student Union Apollo Room
Hosted by the College of Education and Human Services, this team-based trivia contest is a great way to support student scholarships. Featuring special guest M.C. Dana Sintell of the Rubi Girls.

8–11 p.m.: Casino Night, Union Market
Try your luck at roulette, poker and blackjack. Open to all students, alumni, faculty and staff.

Saturday, Oct. 5

10 a.m.–8 p.m.: Festival of Flight, Nutter Center back parking lot

The free Festival of Flight will celebrate the importance of aviation in the Miami Valley. The festival will feature popular food trucks and flight-themed beverages; performances by local bands; aviation-related educational experiences; Wright State soccer, volleyball and softball teams; a military veteran softball team and a vintage baseball game; a dedicated area with inflatables; and a haunted trail.

Rolling Indulgence will be among the many popular food trucks and restaurants at the Festival of Flight on Oct. 5.

10:30 a.m.: USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team vs. local military personnel and first responders, Nischwitz Stadium

1 p.m.: Vintage baseball game: Cincinnati 1869 Red Stockings vs. Dayton’s Eastwood Iron Horses, Nischwitz Stadium

1 p.m.: Lights Out, a classic and southern rock cover band, City of Fairborn Main Stage
